Staff Sgt. Andrew Barnum, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, stands ready atop a Landing Craft, Air Cushion hovercraft for a beach assault during training inside the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 2, 2018. Barnum is a native of Bryan, Texas. CLB-31 is permanently attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Marines and Sailors with CLB-31, the Logistics Combat Element, support each component of the 31st MEU. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations across the Indo-Pacific region.
