The Bake Shop aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) feeds the ship’s crew and accompanying Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit four times a day with bread, cookies, rolls and desserts. Navy culinary specialists and Marines assigned to Mess Duty work 12-hour shifts to feed the more than 2,600 Marines and Sailors who call the Wasp home during two annual patrols of the Indo-Pacific region. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations across the Indo-Pacific region.
