“Oscar,” a 75-foot mechanized landing craft operated by U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., is prepared for dry dock to undergo maintenance, Oct. 10, 2018. The boat underwent biennial maintenance at a commercial boat yard near Beaufort, N.C., to maintain readiness and ensure all existing deficiencies were fixed. Barnacles were sand-blasted off the bottom to decrease the drag through the water, the hull was inspected for cracks and dents, which were fixed, and special paint was applied to help protect the boat from corrosion.
