U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Coleman, a boatswain's mate assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, repaints the boat number on “Oscar,” a 75-foot mechanized landing craft operated by Sailors assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 29, 2018. The boat underwent annual maintenance at a commercial boat yard near Beaufort, N.C., where cleaning and painting of the bottom and maintenance on the propellers and shafts could be accomplished. Barnacles were sand-blasted off the bottom to decrease drag through the water, the hull was inspected for cracks and dents, which were fixed, and special paint was applied to help protect the hull from corrosion.
