Combat engineers from the Ropes Platoon, 235th Engineer Company, 579th Engineer Battalion, 49th Military Police Brigade, California Army National Guard, secure a vehicle so it doesn’t fall while victims are being rescued during the 2011 Arizona Vigilant Guard Exercise Nov. 4, in Phoenix. The Ropes platoon, which utilizes ropes and pulleys to open up confined spaces and rescue victims, is one of three platoons designated as part of the search and extraction team.
