Cal Guard’s Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael Maxwell, a UH-60 Test Pilot and 19 year aviation veteran conducts ‘cold’(engines off) training with volunteer search and rescue personnel at the helicopter safety and rescue training, Walker Creek Ranch, Petaluma, CA Oct 4-6. These SAR volunteers may one day find themselves transported by a Cal Guard Black Hawk helicopter, advance training will allow them familiarization. Maxwell and other crew members worked with the volunteers to load with and without gear, attach safety belts, and load with a litter containing a 180 lb. simulated ‘victim’.
