Q: What is your name and what do you do in the Coast Guard?

A: Vanessa Hernandez, I'm an E-3 at a small boat station and as a fully
qualified member I help with LE and SAR cases.

Q: Describe diversity in a word or two and explain what it means to you.

A: Open-mindedness. Diversity, to me, means not cornering yourself from new
ideas, people, and experiences.

Q: How has your experience and background prepared you to be effective at
your job?

A: By having an accepting and understanding mindset which is ideal
especially when working with the public.

Q: Tell me a little bit about your life outside of work.

A: Outside of work I spend my time diving into music. I am an avid music
nerd.
