In the early morning of Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, NC National Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters “big voice” announcement system loudly stated “Exercise, Exercise, Exercise….Active Shooter drill has begun…The headquarters and surrounding facility is now in lockdown.. All Wardens report into Joint Operations Center (JOC) via radio.”
Photo: State Highway Patrol found the exercise role-player shooter unconscious with a simulated self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and multiple shooting victims in the hallways with various injuries. Local EMS and firefighters moved in next with State Capitol Police protection and triaged the wounded, eventually moving all to a safe location for further medical treatment.
