"I am Spc. Sonia Morales, I am a 92 Romero (Parachute Rigger) and I’ve been in the military for almost 5 years. I work as a technician at Camp Mabry and I really do like my job. We have a little thing called DSCA (Defense Support of Civil Authorities) which I already volunteered for, so whenever anything happens like the hurricanes or any type of disasters in Texas the team is usually out there.
I like helping, I like doing more than I’m capable of. I started off as a bartender back in my home town. I like to be adventurous which is why I joined the military. I find the military part of my life to be exciting.
Right now, I’m doing supply, which I am not use to but I learned very quickly how to use to computer and what it is I need to do. Mainly, I learned fast because I do like to help people. The job that I do is very important because we have to keep accountability of all the supplies that we get in and what we are running low on so I can order more and keep the flow continuous.
Our team is very awesome. The fact that we are even out here away from our loved ones can be hard but we are here to help and I’m very proud of them. We are doing a very good job out here. Everyone is holding it together for their families and everyone is happy to help Texas." (U.S. Army Photo by CW2 Michael Kanzler)
