(Nov. 10, 2020) Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) New London Ombudsman Assembly Chairperson Christie Fricke is presented the U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Sybil Stockdale Ombudsman of the Year Award, in a closed, limited-attendance, physically-distanced, and virus-mitigated ceremony in the base Dealey Center Theater. On stage from left to right are: Fricke’s husband, Chief Hospital Corpsman George Fricke; Fricke; USS Hartford Commanding Officer Cmdr. Steven Wiegel; Wiegel’s wife, Stacy; and Hartford Chief of the Boat Senior Chief Electronics Technician (Submarine Communications) Michael J. Marzec. Fricke, who is also command ombudsman for USS Hartford (SSN 768), was recognized for her exceptional work as a crew-to-family liaison. She was selected for the honor from more 1,900 ombudsmen.
