Sgt. 1st Class Heather Wright of Philadelphia, assigned to 99th Regional Support Command, Fort Dix, N.J., lunges toward the finish during the three-kilometer run Sept. 5. The 3K is one of seven Olympic-style events that are part of the German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge. The German air force personnel stationed here have sponsored the competition for American troops eight times in the past three years. The GAFMPB is awarded in gold, silver or bronze. The coveted badge may be worn on the U.S. Army service uniform. Wright earned silver for the GAFMPB.
