U.S. Army warriors walk the first lap around Fort Bliss Noel Parade Field as part of a 12-kilometer ruck march carrying 33 pounds Sept. 7, here. The 12K is one of seven Olympic-style military and sporting events that are part of the German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge. The German air force personnel stationed here have sponsored the competition for American troops eight times in the past three years. The GAFMPB is awarded in gold, silver or bronze. The coveted badge may be worn on the U.S. Army service uniform.
