PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug 3, 2022) – A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 465, launches from the flight deck of amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), August 3. LPDs support amphibious assault, special operations, expeditionary warfare missions and serve as secondary aviation platforms for amphibious operations. John P. Murtha, part of amphibious squadron (CPR) SEVEN, along with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is currently underway conducting integrated training in U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
