PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug 9, 2022) – Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Michael Sarmiento with the Ground Combat Element, Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), trains Sailors on tourniquet use with Fire Controlman Technician 3rd Class Noah Alverio during a tactical combat casualty course (TCCC) on the flight deck of amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), August 9. TCCC teaches evidence-based, life-saving techniques and strategies for providing the best trauma care on the battlefield. John P. Murtha, part of amphibious squadron (CPR) SEVEN, along with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is currently underway conducting integrated training in U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
