PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug 13, 2022) – Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1648, assigned to Assault Craft Unit 1, exits the well deck of amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), August 13. LCU’s bolster the interoperability of the U.S. Navy and Marines using Navy craft to transport Marine land vehicles and troops from ship to shore creating a more lethal force. John P. Murtha, part of amphibious squadron (CPR) SEVEN, along with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is currently underway conducting integrated training in U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
