Maj. Gen. Mike Oates, 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum commander, scans the horizon at ReTrans-South, an out-post in northeastern Iraq. The 1st Brigade Combat Team, deployed to the Kirkuk province area of northeastern Iraq in September, 2007. Oates, along with 10th Mtn. Div. Command Sgt. Maj. James Redmore, visited with Soldiers throughout the 1st BCT Jan. 24th and 25th, recognizing their efforts and giving them updates on the state of the division.
