Staff Sgt. Dante Davis, a squad leader in the 237th Military Police Company, 54th Troop Command, New Hampshire Army National Guard, notionally primes a claymore mine with the blasting cap during the “Employ an M18A1 Claymore Mine” warrior task, while competing in the New Hampshire Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition, Feb. 10, at the Edward Cross Training Complex in Pembroke, N.H.
Speaking to how he performed the notional task, Davis said “I made sure not to touch the blasting cap; by touching the blasting cap you can initiate a spark which would detonate that explosive in the cap, but also the claymore itself, killing you and anyone else that is within the blast radius.” He added, “we all carry static electricity.”
