Spc. Christopher Kiernan, an interior electrician with the 185th Engineer Company, 54th Troop Command, New Hampshire Army National Guard, carries a 25-pound kettle bell during the “stress shoot” portion of the NHARNG Best Warrior Competition, Feb. 10, at the training site in Center Strafford, N.H.
The stress shoot required competitors to shoot a 10-round magazine of ammunition with an M-4 carbine three separate times from three positions: standing, prone, and kneeling. Before changing positions, they had to sprint to retrieve their next magazine while carrying a kettle bell.
“My adrenaline was pumping, running back and forth with the dumbbell while trying to go fast and be accurate,” said Kiernan. “You don't really get to practice that much.”
