From left to right, Officer Candidate Juan Reyes, a chaplain’s program candidate in Officer Candidate School, acting as a translator for the Best Warrior Competition, New Hampshire Army National Guard, talks about the similarities and differences between the U.S. Army and Army of El Salvador with First Sgt. Cesar Morales, a grader from the El Salvador Special Forces, Sgt. Marcos Cruz, a competitor in the El Salvador Special Forces, and Brigadier Sgt. Maj. Pablo Rivas Beltran, a grader from the El Salvador Special Forces, while awaiting registration, Feb. 9, at the Edward Cross Training Complex in Pembroke, N.H.

Reyes, while serving as a translator to the El Salvadoran participants, is also a sponsor for Cruz, and will guide him through the events to follow in the coming days.

Having grown up in the Dominican Republic, Spanish is Reyes' first language.
