U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Nativo Rodriguez, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) team sergeant and U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Anthony Clark, explosive ordnance disposal augmentee, search for metal hits during a DPAA recovery mission, Nghệ An Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Feb. 26, 2023. For those killed-in-action, the accounting community is charged with locating, recovering and identifying their remains. Since 1973, the remains of more than 1,000 Americans killed during the Vietnam War have been identified and returned to their families for burial with full military honors. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency tirelessly continues the search for the remaining 1,581 missing in action servicemembers from the Vietnam War in order to provide fullest possible accounting for our missing and unaccounted-for U.S. personnel to their families and the nation.
