Lance Corporal James Whiting, a rifleman with company C, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment walks with a Bruneian soldier. The two service members are swapping tactics, techniques and procedures as they walk through Penanjong’s new urban combat training facility here. Whiting and other members of 1/3 have been conducting MOUT with Bruneian Soldiers as part of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Brunei 2012. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei and Timor Leste.
