KOROR, Palau, (August 8, 2023) - Rear Adm. Gregory Huffman met with President Surangel Whipps Jr. for an in-person introduction during a familiarization tour of Palau. The meeting provided an opportunity to learn more about the defense needs of the region and improve diplomatic ties with Palau.
Huffman conducted the familiarization tour of the region at the beginning of August. As the senior military official of the region, Huffman serves as the commander of Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Naval Forces Marianas, and is the Defense Representative to Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of Palau, and Federated States of Micronesia.
