PELELIU Palau, (August 8, 2023) - Rear Adm. Gregory Huffman visits the office of Governor Emais Roberts, the governor of Peleliu, during a regional familiarization tour in early August. During the office call Huffman exchanged gifts with the governor and took some time to learn more about the island’s World War II history along with Marines from 7th Engineering Support Battalion (ESB) stationed on Peleliu. These items were found across the island of Peleliu after Japanese forces left the island and are temporarily stored in the Governor's office while waiting for museum placement.

Huffman conducted the familiarization tour of the region at the beginning of August. As the senior military official of the region, Huffman serves as the commander of Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Naval Forces Marianas, and is the Defense Representative to Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of Palau, and Federated States of Micronesia.
