Sgt. Zachary Munoz from the 11th Airborne Division Band entertain the crowd during a concert in Harrigan Centennial Hall Oct. 16, 2023, as part of the Alaska Day festival activities. The festival marks the ceremony which occurred on October 18, 1867, on Castle Hill in Sitka, transferring the territory from Russia to the United States. Annual celebrations include a reenactment ceremony, a period costume ball, dances, concerts, a wreath-laying ceremony in the Sitka National Cemetery and a parade through town.
