Locals in period dress watch as the color guard from 6th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division leads the Alaska Day parade through Sitka Oct. 18, 2023. The parade is part of the annual Alaska Day festival activities marking the ceremony which occurred on October 18, 1867, on Castle Hill in Sitka, transferring the territory from Russia to the United States.
