The firing detail from 6th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division fires a volley as part of the wreath laying ceremony Oct. 18, 2023, in the Sitka National Cemetery. The ceremony is part of the annual Alaska Day festival activities marking the ceremony which occurred on October 18, 1867, on Castle Hill in Sitka, transferring the territory from Russia to the United States. Annual celebrations include a reenactment ceremony, a period costume ball, dances, concerts and a parade through town. (Army photo/John Pennell)
