The 11th Airborne Division Band plays for the crowd gathered in period costumes atop Castle Hill in Sitka Oct. 18, 2023, as part of the annual Alaska Day festival activities marking the ceremony which occurred on October 18, 1867, transferring the territory from Russia to the United States.
