U.S. Air Force Weapons Load Team Chief Staff Sgt. Brandon Sagaysay makes a final inspection of air-to-air missiles mounted onto the wing of an F-16C Fighting Falcon as the jet prepares to take off for a morning sortie as part of exercise Bamboo Eagle from Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu in California on Jan. 29. Designed to dovetail against the Air Force’s Red Flag exercise, which concluded the week prior, Bamboo Eagle encompassed more than 150 aircraft operating from a large number of disaggregated locations across the West Coast. Whereas Red Flag is typically flown over land, Bamboo Eagle involved combat scenarios that played out over the Pacific Ocean, including a vast sea test range adjacent to NBVC Point Mugu.
