Drill instructor students practice close-order drill Jan. 22, 2014, at Drill Instructor School on Parris Island, S.C. Having served a minimum of four years in the Marine Corps and earned the rank of sergeant, these Marines are now preparing to transform young men and women into their predecessors. The Drill Instructor School on Parris Island is one of only two across the Marine Corps responsible for training all future drill instructors in an intensive and demanding 11-week course.
