U.S. Army Lt. Col. Scott Kendrick the Commander of 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division coordinates with the Iraqi security forces for the arrival of Japanese Senior Vice Foreign Minister Seiko Hashimoto. She is in Muthanna province for the grand opening of a new power plant in As Samawah, Iraq. This 60 megawatt power plant was sponsored by the Japanese Provincial Reconstruction Team of Muthanna province and will provide much needed electricity to southern Iraq.
