Retired Maj. Gen. Jim Darden presents to Ruby Mae Cashe a proclamation from Florida Governor Rick Scott honoring her son Sgt. 1st Class Alwyn C. Cashe in Sanford, Florida during a memorialization ceremony renaming an Army Reserve center in memory of the late hero on July 19. Cashe died from injuries sustained when he was rescuing fellow troops from a burning vehicle while he himself was on fire. He has been recommended for the Medal of Honor.
