Petty Officer 2nd Class Kellyann Stietzel holds the head of her partner "Don," while Maj. Mickey G. Moppin, doctor of veterinary medicine, Camp Lemonier, obtains Don's vitals prior to sedation, April 24. Don required sedation prior to X-rays which were to be completed at the base emergency medical facility in an attempt to find the cause for a upper respiratory problem. Petty Officer 2nd Class Stietzel and Don are assigned to Camp Lemonier and used for explosive/narcotic detection as well as security patrols. The service members of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
