Petty Officer 2nd Class Angela Ingalls, Emergency Medical Facility X-ray technician along with the help of Maj. Mickey G. Moppin, doctor of veterinary medicine, position "Don," a Military Working Dog, April 24, while taking X-rays to uncover the cause of his upper respiratory problem. Don and his handler are assigned to the Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa MWD Unit, Camp Lemonier and are used for explosive/narcotic detection as well as security patrols. The service members of CJTF-HOA, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
