Petty Officer 2nd Class Kellyann Stietzel holds the head of her partner "Don" while Maj. Mickey Moppin, Camp Lemonier veterinarian, obtains Don's vitals prior to sedation, April 24. Don required sedation prior to X-rays to be completed at the base emergency medical facility for possible respiratory problems. Petty Officer 2nd Class Stietzel and Don are assigned to Camp Lemonier and used for explosive/narcotic detection as well as security patrols. The service members of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
