GREAT LAKES, Ill., (August 7, 2015) – Chief Navy Counselor Tongela Freeman sings the national anthem at the beginning of a retirement ceremony for Command Master Chief Leon R. Walker Jr. (fourth from right) in the Recruit Training Command (RTC) Recruit Memorial Chapel here, Aug. 7. Joining Walker on stage was (from right) retired Cmdr. Robert Sullivan, former executive officer for Naval Station Great Lakes; Fleet Master Chief April Beldo, the guest speaker and Senior Chief Quartermaster Jonathan Rivera, who gave the invocation and benediction. Walker’s last command was as the Command Master Chief for Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) and he retires after 32 years of service in the United States Navy.
