GREAT LAKES, Ill., (August 7, 2015) – Command Master Chief Leon R. Walker Jr. receives a folded American flag from Training Support Center (TSC) Command Master Chief Jeffrey Kirby at a retirement ceremony in the Recruit Training Command (RTC) Recruit Memorial Chapel here, Aug. 7. The flag was part of an “Old Glory” flag passing ceremony where a properly folded flag is passed from each rank in a Sailor’s career. For Walker, the flag was passed from a seaman to a master chief. The poem “Old Glory” was read by Logistics Specialist 1st Class Rashaad Essex. Walker’s last command was as the command master chief for Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) and he retires after 32 years of service in the United States Navy.
