The Headquarters and Service Battalion color guard from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, presents the colors during a keel laying ceremony at the Nassco shipyard in San Diego, Aug. 2. The ceremony honored World War II veteran Hershel Woodrow “Woody” Williams, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism at Iwo Jima. A U.S. Navy ship currently being built there was named in his honor. The Marine Band from San Diego also performed at the ceremony.
