NORFOLK (Oct. 7, 2016) – Capt. James R. Midkiff, commanding officer, amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), observes the ship pulling into Naval Station Norfolk from the bridge. Iwo Jima is currently moored at Naval Station Norfolk to conduct an onload of more than 500 Marines from the 24h Marine Expeditionary Unit and nearly 300 pallets of supplies as Hurricane Matthew develops.
