ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 16, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Amanda Marotta, from Fremont, Calif., cleans corrosion from inside the engine bay of an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the Fighting Swordsmen of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 32 in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Marotta serves aboard Ike as an aviation machinist's mate and helps inspect, repair and maintain aircraft. Ike and its Carrier Strike Group are deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
