U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Dennis Shaffer, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) team sergeant, passes a bucket of soil to U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Steven Krehel, DPAA communications augmentee, at an excavation site in Quang Binh province, Vietnam, Aug. 12, 2017. Both are deployed as part of a recovery team charged with the task of finding the remains of two Marine aviators that were lost in a night-time, armed reconnaissance mission during the Vietnam War. Krehel is a field radio operator with the 1st Tank Battalion stationed at Twentynine Palms, Calif.
