Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) augmentees, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Randall Jackson, left, and U.S. Army Maj. Mohamad Umar, break up clumps of soil at an excavation site in Quang Binh province, Vietnam, Aug. 15, 2017. Both service members are deployed by DPAA as part of a recovery team in search of the remains of two Marine aviators that were lost in a night-time, armed reconnaissance mission during the Vietnam War. Jackson is an explosive ordnance disposal technician assigned to the 673rd Civil Engineer Squadron and is stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Umar is an emergency medicine physician assistant assigned to the Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas.
