U.S. Army Spc. Nadine Rivera, from San Antonio, with 57th Transportation Battalion based in Fort Lewis, Wash., works with Australia Defence Force Pvts. Ashley Pinfold and Melissa Petricevich, both from Townville, Queensland, with the 10th Force Support Battalion, inspecting vehicles for dirt and grease that may contain weeds and seeds. A strict ‘weed and seed’ bio-security management system is being implemented for all vehicles entering the Shoalwater Bay training area. The process prevents seeds of undesirable plants from spreading and harming Shoalwater Bay Training Area during Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre 2011 is an exercise designed to train U.S. and Australian forces to plan and conduct Combined Task Force operations to improve combat readiness and interoperability on a variety of missions from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts.
