U.S. Army Spc. Nadine Rivera, from San Antonio, with 57th Transportation Battalion, based in Joint Base Louis-McCord, Wash., searches for weeds and seeds under tracker-trailers carrying heavy equipment to and from Shoalwater Bay Training Area. A strict ‘weed and seed’ bio-security management system is being implemented for all vehicles entering the Shoalwater Bay training area. The process prevents seeds of undesirable plants from spreading and harming SWBTA during Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre 2011 is an exercise designed to train U.S. and Australian forces to plan and conduct Combined Task Force operations to improve combat readiness and interoperability on a variety of missions from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts.
