BERING SEA – U.S. Coast Guard Seaman Charlie Cabe (right) and Seaman Frank Lenihan clip a flag onto a rope on the bow of the Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB-20) Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, in the Bering Sea. The crew anchored the ship near Nome, Alaska, in order to receive scientific equipment that will be deployed in the Arctic. The flag is raised whenever the ship is moored to a pier or at anchor. The Healy is one of two ice breakers in U.S. service and is the only military ship dedicated to conducting ice research in the Arctic.
