JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 18, 2019) – Lt. Cmdr. Maria Kennedy, a nurse and Naval Hospital Jacksonville staff education and training department head, conducts cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training with staff. Kennedy, a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, says, “I joined the Navy as a hospital corpsman and worked side-by-side with phenomenal nurses who inspired me to pursue a nursing career in the Navy. The greatest reward as a Navy nurse has been teaching and working alongside our hospital corpsmen. I’ve also been deployed with the Marines, stationed overseas, and worked in a multitude of environments, always proudly elevating the delivery of evidence-based medicine to active and retired service members and their families." We celebrate National Nurses Week May 6-12. #NotallHeroesWearCapes but nurses are superheroes in the eyes of a patient. Take time to thank a #SuperNurse for all they do. #Nurses Week #FacesofNHJax (U.S. Navy photo by Jacob Sippel, Naval Hospital Jacksonville/Released).
