“I got into DJing because of a mentor of mine. I was going through my divorce years ago, and I was in a lonely, depressed state, so he said, ‘Hey, maybe you can come with me. I’m getting ready to do a retirement party for a friend.’ I thought I was just going to be there to help set up, but he actually showed me how to DJ. I went from learning that to getting my own equipment to getting hired and then getting flown all around to DJ for different events. And I think the most impactful thing – it may sound funny – but I DJed for a funeral in Guam. There was an elderly person there, and they passed, but it was more of a celebration because they lived a great life. So to actually DJ for that was amazing to see how people can turn a normally tragic situation into a celebration to actually celebrate life. I’ve DJed for some famous people before, but that’s not the most important thing. The most important thing is that music is used to help elevate individuals.”
