Soldiers compete in the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon where troops mount in the turret of a humvee and then travel along a road and engage enemy targets that pop into view. Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah sent their best enlisted Soldier and noncommissioned officer from within their Army National Guard ranks to bring home the honor of being called the 2012 Region VII Best Warrior. The tournament is being hosted by the California Army National Guard at Camp San Luis Obispo, April 23-26. The Soldiers and NCOs will compete in various tasks to gain points. Little down time is spent during those four days, which ultimately tests the troops and their sponsors ability to deal with stress, fast moving tempo, sleep deprivation, physical and mental exertion, as well as many other factors built to separate the super Warrior from the super human Warrior.
