A landing craft (air cushioned) hits the beach after taking Marines from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (special operations capable) (13th MEU(SOC)) and their equipment to the USS Rushmore, anchored off the coast of Kuwait, Sept. 26. LCACs are used to ferry personnel and equipment from ship to shore and back. The Marines are returning home to Camp Pendleton, Calif., after their deployment to Al Anbar province, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
