Shop areas at Tinker Air Force Base produce a lot of waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous. Due to the volume of work to safely determine disposal methods of the waste, the 72nd Civil Engineering Directorate has a dedicated team of chemists and environmental protection specialists in the Environmental Lab in Bldg. 3001 to assure the waste is disposed of properly. Samples are separated and will go through extensive scientific processes to discover their chemical makeup. The lab receives approximately 50-60 solid samples each month.
