Diann Riter, the installation emergency manager, sits in the empty Emergency Operations Center preparing for a teleconference meeting. The room is normally full of unit representatives for emergency situations, but due to COVID regulations, meetings are being conducted via teleconference or with socially-distanced reduced staff. Since COVID, they have improved on their training programs and are currently sending out slideshows instead of hosting in-person EM training classes. Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives training has mostly been suspended until June 1. They also keep in constant communication with the Crisis Action Team and base and state Public Health officials on how best to advise base commanders on important issues.
